April is an experienced EHS and food safety professional with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services and food manufacturing industries. She is particularly skilled in quality assurance, safety management, food safety, sustainability, data analysis, and analytical chemistry and has significant experience managing quality, facilities, safety, and regulatory compliance in a laboratory setting.

As a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), April has specialized technical expertise in developing safety programs and training and brings a focus on safety to all projects. She has also worked with a number of food manufacturers to ensure compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification requirements. In addition, April has a strong background working in waste management and recycling. She has created corporate programs, plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and sustainability requirements, as well as a company Zero Landfill Policy by finding creative and innovative solutions for end-of-life material through lifecycle analysis.

With over ten years of EHS, food safety, and quality experience, April offers a unique perspective on projects. Her background includes experience in the following areas:

  • Conducting regular facility inspections and assessments to ensure facilities meet quality, safety, environmental, and food safety guidelines.
  • Developing and documenting EHS and food safety policies, procedures, and training manuals.
  • Developing, implementing, and auditing integrated management systems (i.e., food safety, environmental, quality, safety).
  • Investigating accidents and hazardous incidents to determine the root cause and recommending and monitoring corrective actions.
  • Developing and maintaining EHS systems, including SWPPPs, Emergency Preparedness Plans, Hazard Communication Plans, QEHS Policies, and Auditing Plans.
  • Conducting food safety assessments according to the GFSI-benchmarked standards (i.e., SQF, FSSC 22000, BRCGS).
  • Identifying end-of-life recycling options for a variety of waste streams.
  • Auditing recycling downstream vendors to prove overall compliance with waste handling.
  • Building waste handling and shipping systems.
  • Managing EHS planning, meetings, and practical implementation of programs.
  • Directing food safety and quality assurance (FSQA) standards to maximize results.
  • Overseeing in-depth laboratory inspections and audits and updating procedures.
  • Training staff on quality control, safety, food safety, environmental requirements, and laboratory procedures.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities in good working order.
  • Founding and chairing Sustainability and Safety Committees.

April has an M.S. in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Idaho and a B.S. in Chemistry from Viterbo University and is a Board Member of the Sustainability Institute. Her certifications and training include the following:
