Samantha is a food safety and quality assurance (FSQA) professional with ten years of experience working in the food and beverage industry. She has specialized expertise in regulatory interpretation and compliance, particularly the FDA Produce Safety Rule; good manufacturing practices (GMPs); good agricultural practices (GAPs); standard operating procedure (SOP) development and implementation; Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification (i.e., SQF, BRCGS); supply chain management; environmental monitoring and sanitation; and food microbiology. She is committed to helping companies create a unique food safety culture that reflects company-specific needs rather than a one-size-fits-all system.

Prior to joining KTL, Samantha served as an FSQA Manager for a sustainable food production and direct-to-consumer market in North Carolina. In addition, she has significant experience as a Regional Industry Trainer, developing and leading training on food safety and regulatory compliance topics. Highlights of Samantha’s experience include the following:

  • Overseeing quality control, regulatory compliance, and documentation related to FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements.
  • Managing supply chain compliance and documentation.
  • Leading food safety and regulatory audit planning, preparation, and certification processes.
  • Developing standardized recipes and SOPs to comply with FDA and USDA requirements.
  • Determining proper food handling instructions.
  • Performing nutritional and microbiological analysis of food.
  • Developing and validating environmental monitoring program.
  • Developing and conducting food safety training on topics including 21 CFR, SQF, BRCGS, preventive controls and food safety hazards, HACCP, cGMPs, FSMA, food defense, environmental monitoring, sanitation, and documentation.
  • Implementing ERP systems.

Samantha has her Master of Science degree in Nutrition from Meredith College and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University. In addition, she holds the following credentials:
